Civil Disobedience - Followership & Leadership

If the question is whether America has a leadership of followership problem, the answer is yes!
The leaders of America let the power got to their head meanwhile while the followers are cynical.           The leaders have this power and instead of getting a big head they fail to realize that they could use their power for a much higher purpose.  The leaders of today have no balance between power and morality.    The problem of followership is that the people don’t want to follow because they believe that the leaders are in it only for themselves.  They believe that the leader will only do things to benefit them and to help their face value.  The followers have trust issues is what it boils down to.   With the mention of trust issues comes the connotation of a relationship.  So I understand, because leading and following is something you do in a relationship, and that’s what we do with the leaders we choose.  Sometimes there’s a need for a strong leader someone that asserts themselves but is kind and personable.  When you have that strong person leading you it weighs on you and almost makes you succumb to their leadership, you have no choice but to follow.  Sadly being that people seem to be more cynical now than in the past makes it harder for the leader to try and please the followers.  It’s the things that have happened in the past that have shaped peoples belief.  Due to all of the scandals of the past and how politicians and presidents handled them could have left a bad taste in the follower’s mouth.  Also seeing how capitalist countries operate keeping things from their citizens; and when the American’s find out about something that happened a week ago a month from them they feel betrayed.   So I believe that people are more cynical now than they were previously.  This theory ties in with today because people feel like certain groups with power, use it to their benefit to snuff out minorities.  This quote “Always try to associate yourself with and learn as much as you can from those who know more than you…” (p. 593) fits in because it is suggesting a way for people to follow; basically saying stop thinking you know more than every one just sit back and listen.

  1. I agree with your blog, leaders have lost focus on whats important to the people and are so focused on themselves that the country is falling apart. People are acting out to defend themselves because our leaders are not doing it for us, Sometimes the leaders are what is causing all the problems.

  2. I also agree with your blog. yes, there are alot of problems with leaders as well followers. Most of the time leaders promised and debated with the main issue of the country, or for the society, but once they got the leading position, they started doing things for their seek instead of the society. once they get on their position people doesn't have any choice, but follow the leader.
